‘Nomadland’ s’imposa en uns Oscar sense sorpreses i marcats per la pandèmia

Una gala avorrida i gairebé sense cap sorpresa. Així ha estat la cerimònia dels noranta-tresens premis Oscar, en què la pandèmia també s’ha fet notar amb un ambient gèlid al Dolby Theatre de Hollywood (només hi havia 150 convidats, en compte dels 3.000 habituals).

El film Nomadland ha estat el gran triomfador de la nit amb els guardons de millor film, millor direcció (Chloé Zhao) i millor actriu principal (Frances McDormand). D’aquesta manera, s’han complert totes les expectatives que el presentaven com el gran preferit i tanca un any rodó després de guanyar també el Lleó d’Or a Venècia.

En el discurs com a premiada, McDormand ha volgut reivindicar el cinema, després d’un any nefast per a la indústria: “Un dia, molt i molt aviat, porteu els vostres coneguts a un cinema, braç a braç, en aquest espai fosc. I vegeu tots els films que hi ha representats avui ací.” Amb aquest guardó, l’actriu de Nova York iguala Meryl Streep i Ingrid Bergman com a guanyadora de tres premis de l’acadèmia, només superades per Katharine Hepburn, amb quatre Oscar.

Segurament la gran sorpresa de la nit ha estat l’Oscar a millor actor principal, que molts consideraven que premiaria pòstumament Chadwick Boseman. Tanmateix, l’acadèmia ha preferit reconèixer el paper d’Anthony Hopkins a The Father, en què fa d’home senil. Hopkins, que fins ara havia rebut diverses nominacions, però només tenia una estatueta per El silenci dels anyells, s’ha convertit en l’actor de més edat a rebre el guardó (vuitanta-tres anys).

De totes maneres, la sorpresa s’ha dissipat de seguida perquè, després de pronunciar el nom de l’intèrpret gal·lès, ningú no ha pujat a l’escenari a recollir el premi. Amb aquesta fredor, però amb voluntat de voler tirar endavant, la indústria del cinema ha posat punt final a la cerimònia en un any per a oblidar.
