El temporal de pluja i vent Ciara afecta l’oest i el nord d’Europa, especialment el Regne Unit, Irlanda, França, els Països Baixos i Alemanya. L’Oficina Meteorològica britànica ha alertat de ratxes de vent que poden superar els 145 km/h i ha obligat a cancel·lar la gran majoria dels vols a l’aeroport de Gatwick, a Londres, on companyies com ara EasyJet han cancel·lat tots els programats per a avui, cosa que significa prop del 90% dels de la terminal nord. Altres companyies com Vueling també han cancel·lat vols. Ara com ara tots aquests passatgers proven de sortir de l’aeroport, on es formen grans cues i aglomeracions.
També hi ha hagut fortes inundacions (sobretot al nord d’Anglaterra) i s’han suspès desenes de vols a la resta d’aeroports del país, alguns amb destinació als Països Catalans. També hi ha talls, retards i cancel·lacions en els desplaçaments ferroviaris a causa de la caiguda d’objectes a les vies i s’han cancel·lat desplaçaments en transport marítim. A Alemanya, els Països Baixos i Bèlgica també s’han hagut de cancel·lar desenes de vols.
El temporal també ha afectat el futbol, i s’ha hagut de suspendre el partit Machester City-West Ham a la Premier i el Borussia Mönchengladbach-Colonia a la Bundeslliga. Al nord de l’estat francès s’ha demanat als ciutadans d’evitar els boscs, la costa i els trajectes en vaixell.
